Pedrosa matches another of Rossi’s Records

Daniel Pedrosa matched another of Valentino Rossi’s records but soon will set a new standard.
At LeMans, Pedrosa stayed with a group of 5 or 6 riders sometimes at the end of the pack. Just in Rossi style he came from behind with 5-6 laps to go, ripped off 4 consective lap records. Was passed with 1-1/2 laps to go by De puniet, but came back and passed De puniet for the lead and the win. This was Dani’s 2nd win of the year and put him back in the points lead. Additionally this win established Pedrosa as the only rider since Valentino to win 17 GP’s before his 20th birthday. Dani will not turn 20 until September so there is a great chance that he could be well over 20 wins since there are 10 races left before his birthday on 9/28.
Dani has a new challenge coming up in Mugello, he has never won at this track. So a win here would put a check mark next to that goal and set him as the leader with 18 win before he is 20.
I really hope that Valentino stays around in MotoGP for a couple of years so he can go head to head with Pedrosa. I think their battles will be even better than Rossi & Gibernau.
More to come as the season progresses.
SideBar: This also goes to support my theory that if you are an American Roadracer you better get over to Europe and begin racing the 125cc at an early age. The AMA or WSB is not the road to MotoGP. What American RR has 17 wins (on his way to over 20) and 2 World Championships (on his way to #3)? Ben Spies is an up and comer but he is too old already to be a MotoGP Champion. And although Collin showed us he was still fast he can not race at MotoGP championship speeds all the time. Even if he wins a race it is not the Championship.
