Hopkins Stay With Suzuki

Ugh. I was realy hoping he was going to make a move to a more competitive team. There is either a lot of loyalty from Hopkins or a lot of cash to Hopkins…both are good things. Still, the kid is only twenty-two years old (I didn’t know he was that young) and has plenty of time to develop his career. The only risk is that if he continuously has poor finishes, his prospects may go away. Ruben Xaus comes to mind. Anyway, from Team Suzuki:

Hopkins and Suzuki partnership continues

Suzuki and John Hopkins have agreed to enter into a new two-year contract, which will see MotoGP’s youngest rider racing the ever-improving Suzuki GSV-R in

MotoGP - Automotodrom, Brno

That would be the Czech Republic to us crackers….

If Gibernau didn’t have bad luck, he would have no luck at all. I like Gibernau, and even if I didn’t I’d feel bad for the guy. The last two races giving up the lead and an assured second (at least) on the last lap has to be devistating. I would like to ensure that someone has put him on suicide watch. Rossi could at least send him a care package.

Overall, that was a great race…likened to last season, or better yet the opening round this year. Not that I don’t want to see Rossi win, but by 2X the points??? I want to see a

Jeremy McGrath vs. Riverside County

Pathetic. These are the kooks I have referred to in the past that make me want to put border patrol on I-10 at the AZ border, let alone Mexico. Just read it:

Information Bulletin — Riverside County Considers Stringent Motorized Recreation Restrictions

AMA Staffers Meet with County Officials and Riders

Supercross legend Jeremy McGrath owns 100 acres of land in Riverside County, California, on the east end of the Los Angeles area. As you might imagine, he often uses that land to keep his riding skills sharp. In that respect, McGrath is just like a lot of other riders in a part of the country that is home to much of the American motocross community. And like those other

Taking Pictures on a Ride…

Its my downfall as an enthusiast and blogger. I simply don’t care to take a camera and/or pictures when I go on a ride. I know its probably the best way to communicate the ride to others…especially those who don’t ride, but I can’t seem to do it. While I don’t wear a backpack other than my standard Camelbak for water when I’m on the sport bike, it does have a sufficient tunk that would perfectly fit my camera. As for the Caponord, there simply is no excuse.

I’m an awful tourist as well. We never took pics on vacation until we had kids. After kids, my wife has at least is chronicling their childhoods

Product Review - Arai RX7-RR4 vs. Shoei X-11

I recently decided to get a new helmet based on the research I did for answering the question: “when should I replace my helmet”, and the desire to add music to my commuting. After all was said and done, I ended up with a Shoei X-11 in solid black. Since new in July, I have put about 1500 miles on her and have a good feel of the differences. Keep in mind for this comparison that Arai has a later model than my RX7-RR4 called the RX7-Corsair.

I had really only one complaint about the Arai, and that was the ventilation. It was decent at higher speeds above 80mph, but that’s not too practical. Other than that, I had found the

Photo Radar & Bikes…

I was talking to my neighbor the other night and he mentioned he had a Photo Red Light Violation. In English, that means he got busted by an unmanned camera running a red light. To me, his reasoning was good but to the unbiased camera (read: no chance of talking your way out of the ticket) he was guilty.

On one hand, this pisses me off. I view the municipal revenue generating machine called traffic enforcement as a game…mano v. mano. Photo radar and red lights violates the spirit of the game damnit. Where’s the challenge (or the officer) in that? ;) Actually, what gets me is that a sizeable portion of the revenue generated

MotoGP Intro Theme Lyrics?

I’ve been spending the entire race season trying to figure out what those female voice(s) are saying during the music portion of the MotoGP intro. They sound Asian to me, and my ears are hearing “Are you ready boots”. It’s been alternately suggested, by a riding buddy, that it’s “Are you ready boys”. That makes more sense to me, but then, since when has any World music made any sense to anyone? Does someone out there have an alternate suggestion, or would you agree with one of the stated interpretations? Does anyone out there know for sure (because you sang the lyric during the recording session)? I’m getting obsessive enough to want to record it and play it backwards to

Sold a Used Helmet…

I just recently picked up a new Shoei X-11 in solid black to replace my Arai Phil Read RX-7RR4 helmet. I’m not one of those guys that likes lightning, flames, bullets, etc. coming out of my head via graphics, but the Read Replica was a nice middle ground because it was not plain, yet still custom. The helmet was old enough and I thought it was time…especially after the rave reviews about the X-11 quietness.

Anyway, this was the second helmet I have sold on ebay. This particular helmet was in excellent condition and the new cost was around $450 when I bought it. I damn near got the same price as new (NOTE: if you plan

My Wife Asked Me…

Last weekend as we were running errands conversing in the car, she asked:

“Are you going to be sixty-five and still wearing motorcycle t-shirts?”

My response: “I sure as hell hope so”.

I think its time to add some motorcycle golf shirts to the collection to wear to work. The I could actually up my percent of motorcycle coverage during the week. Where to find such clothing?

Two Guys on a Bike

That stuff is gay…VERY gay. I have to admit though, it was pretty funny to see two guys on a sport bike cruising down the road in rush hour traffic…without helmets mind you. I only wish I had my camera. It was funny enough that I would have risked personal injury to snap a picture.

There are rules within motorcycling that need to be followed. This is one of the most important. They knew it too! I say they knew it because both had the “I’m not gay” pose at 100%. The guy in front was pretending no one was on back and the guy in back had the perma-look of “I’ll beat your
