My Wife Asked Me…

Last weekend as we were running errands conversing in the car, she asked:

“Are you going to be sixty-five and still wearing motorcycle t-shirts?”

My response: “I sure as hell hope so”.

I think its time to add some motorcycle golf shirts to the collection to wear to work. The I could actually up my percent of motorcycle coverage during the week. Where to find such clothing?

I actually got quite a chuckle out of this one. But let’s examine the average motorheads closet. How many of us wear anything but m/c shirts during our time of leisure? As an employee that has to look their finest during the work hours, I enjoy being able to wear “relaxed” clothing during my time off.

Both my husband’s and my closet are filled with an assortment of trophys of our experiences on bikes, whether purchased or aquired through the generosity of m/c shops. I do have a polo (golf style) shirt emblazing the logo of our favorite dealer. It was given to me and I personally think it is quite fashionable. :-)

Besides, what is the purpose of those t-shirts? From the provider those shirts are advertisements of their products. From the wearer’s perspective we are motorcyclists and da*# proud of it.

Unfortunately the better quality shirts are hard to find and a bit pricey. Triumph has a nice button down shirt but being the economically challenged I can’t reach that far down into my pockets to liberate the shirt from it’s dusty enviroment in the store. I have found racing fan wear overseas at www.grandprixlegends.com but due to the current exchange rate I have refrained from further purchases.

My only other suggestion is to start your own line of golf shirts. Who knows maybe over time it will be a bigger hit than the Harley cloths line. :-)

[...] While running around 9 grand and hovering somewhere between sixty-five and seventy-five miles per hour I realized that one of the many things on my mind this morning was the quality of my life. Specifically the quality of my life at this juncture in time when so much seems to be in flux on such a constant basis… As I started whipping through the corners and eeking out the last bits of power from the engine before up-shifting, I started thinking about a column that angrybob from motorcycleblogger.com had written earlier in the week about motorcycle t-shirts. If you haven’t read it you should, it’s not long but it quite nicely sums up what I believe many riders feel - we all want to grow old and still ride. It’s really that simple. That’s the dream.
