Review: TV Show: SPEED, Super Bikes!.

Ok, so 2 Wheel Tuesday is gone and in the void a new motorcycle lifestyle magazine has been added to the SPEED TV lineup. While it has been said that this new show was not a replacement for 2 Wheel Tuesday, it did start up the week after 2 Wheel Tuesday ended.

Super Bikes!, yes that is with an “!” at the end. Super Bikes! is hosted by Rossi Morreale with Jason Britton. Now in my limited research Mr. Morreale is most noted as being one of the top 50 sexiest men in several supermarket tabloid mags. Its ok, I am glad my wife has some eye candy to look at, and I am sure

2 Wheel Tuesday no more :(

Tuesday passed and no more 2 wheel Tuesday to watch. I have known about the passing of the show for a few weeks, thanks to the posts on the WERA board. I had not made a big deal about the show passing before, because it just had not sunk home.

I watched the last episode with a bit of melancholy feeling, as it was the last. The show was not the big final exit I had hoped for, but just a quiet end to a good show. Now don’t get me wrong “2 wheel Tuesday” was not the best TV show ever, but I think it has a place in this world.

TIVO and Road racing… a wonderful marriage

I love my TIVO box (Well it’s actually a ReplayTV 45xx unit – I have two of them) for all thing TV. If you don’t have one, I suggest you buy or rent a DVR (Digital Video Recorder).

See a TIVO unit is so much more than a fancy VCR. TIVO takes the power of TV Guide and matches it to what you want to see. After a few programming selections, you will start to receive program that you normally missed. For me that is Motorcycle Racing, PBS stuff and odds and ends shows.

For the past two years I have been able to watch every

Hayden Out In Front…ALONE

When I am pretty sure of a gentleman’s bet, I will often gamble a testicle to show how confident I am in my wager.  If someone would have bet me a couple of months back that Nicky Hayden would be out in front (almost WAY out in front) with the season almost half over, my purse would be half-full (or half empty for you pessimists) right now.  Who knew?

I also want to know if anyone has sent Colin Edwards a care package?  Is he on suicide watch?  OK - all joking aside, there were three yankess out in front for quite some time.  Hopper dropped off as usual, but Hayden and Edwards gapped the rest of the group.  I like

Product Review - World’s Fastest Indian

My wife bought me the World’s Fastest Indian DVD for Father’s Day this year, and what an excellent gift.  I had wanted to see the movie in the theater, but our youngest toddler isn’t totally ‘down’ with the babysitting thing yet.  Needless to say, we missed it.  In fact (and embarrassingly so because she does not like motorcycles), her mother saw it in the theaters and told us what a great movie it was.

Well…I saw it last night and it truly was.  I’m not going to go into the detail and/or history of Burt Munro - the guy who the movie is about - because I didn’t know it before last night.  In fact I didn’t know who Burt Munro

Keep or Pitch Old Motorcycle Mags?

Ever since my wife and I moved to Arizona (the land of no basements), we have had to change our lifestyle with ragards to being pack-rats.  In Michigan, we had a basement.  WOW was that a good thing.  Yeah it was finished, but it had two utility rooms where we could simply put stuff that we weren’t sure needed disposal.  Without a basement, storage is at a premium.

When I say lifestyle change, I have been hit twice.  First was when I got married.  Even though my wife moved into my house, for some strange reason things still changed.  Lng gone were the days of bachelorhood where I had buddies living with me.  That house was made for guys with an

Product Review - Throttlemeister

When I bought my Aprilia Futura, it had all the right goodies that I was considering adding (OK - I might still add an aftermarket shock).  Because I am cheap and have avoided buying one to date, it coming with a Throttlemeister was a novelty and a chance to test one out.  On my former ‘97 Valkyrie, the previous owner installed a Vista Cruise.  That didn’t work well because it was not adjusted right and…I was lazy.  The problem was the first impression that it left:  throttle locks suck.

Upon taking ownership of this Futura, it was one of the things I wanted to try.  I have a 36 mile commute of easy and uninterrupted highway roads to get to work.  One

Catalunya Funk = Hayden Lead

Turn 1 at Catalunya is never a good way to secure the sole lead in the MotoGP points chase.  I am sure Hayden would give them back to have the Ducati riders (both of them) and Melandri back on the track and uninjured.  There was a funk in the air…or on the track that put people off the track for one reason or another.  From motogp.com:

  • Melandri (flown out by helicopter) - dislocated collarbone and neck injury
  • Capirossi (flown out by helicopter) - abdominal contusion
  • Gibernau (transported to hospital) - fractured right collarbone and light concussion

Nineteen bikes started the race and only eleven finished.  That is the most attrition I have ever seen (as a percent) in motorcycle racing.  Even after the

This Guy Doesn’t Get It At All…CHP shoots at Motorcyclist

From June 11th on I-80 in Kalifornia.  Yeah, its a little old, but while we’re on the topic of news, this article seemed appropriate.  While I support our brave law enforcement officers, I smell a little BS here.  I have personally been on the receiving end of this excuse of “he swerved at me”.  The difference was that when I ‘alledgedly’ swerved at the officer, he was still in his car.  Yeah.

San Francisco Chronicle Article

A California Highway Patrol officer fired at a speeding motorcyclist who refused to pull over Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

It was unclear whether the shot struck the motorcyclist, who got away and was still being sought Sunday night, authorities said.

The incident began at 12:07 p.m.

Maybe This Guy Sort of Gets It

Good stuff from the Washington Times; highlighting absurdity by taking it to it’s logical conclusion.
It comes as a surprise that our proactive city leaders have not contemplated the need to enact an all-inclusive helmet law in response to the fallout associated with the motorcycle crackup of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Our city leaders rarely miss an opportunity to embrace behavior-changing legislation that leads to ever more fines, especially legislation that is touted to save lives. And the wearing of helmets saves lives.

It’s not about the helmet. The helmet only helps AFTER the crash. We need to focus on reducing the number of crashes; the majority of which, including Roethlisberger’s,
