There’s a Hole in my Garage…

The Caponord ‘left the building’ on Friday night.  It’s a rather wierd feeling, but there is neither remorse nor regret.  I have nothing bad to say about the bike.  Its a perfect fit for a certain market.  I guess I found out that I’m not part of that market.

If money were no issue, I’d have one for commuting.  It was the most comfy ride I have ever owned.  Even though it was a little top-heavy feeling at low speeds, the bike was very stable once moving.  It was geared a little different in the transmission than the Futura (the closest sibling engine), but got great fuel economy (42-44mpg).

When I bought the Caponord, I still was riding my Mille R.  The two extremes were nice.  I didn’t make sense to have a sport bike as well as a sport tourer as the Futura is much more sport than tourer.

I thought the combo of Mille R and Caponord would cover all types of riding…and it did.  I found though that I am not a good tourist yet.  I don’t stop to enjoy the scenery and as of now, I don’t long-haul it. In the end, it was too much of a compromise away from sport for my taste.

The Futura seems to be an excellent all-in-one machine.  Long distance comfort + sport bike DNA makes it the current best fit.  It’s a little goofy looking with the radical lines, but hey I have to look in the mirror every morning.

That’s it!  I’ve got it.  It’s all about looks.  They say 7’s marry 7’s and 4’s marry 4’s and 10’s marry 10’s.  While I am no prize, the Capo was far uglier than me.  It was so ugly that it was cool looking.  That’s why we never fell in love - I’m a solid 5.5 and this thing was a generous 2.  I’ll bet people were saying how did that bike ever land that owner.  Yeah…that’s the ticket.

[...] Crap.  About a week ago, my wife handed me my two motorcycle insurance card for this year’s coverage.  Great!  Good for another year.  As I put them in my pocket, I thought to myself…”self, I only have one street bike”.  Crap.  After a short review of the policy, it turns out that I have been paying on my Caponord that I sold on June 2nd, 2006.
