Motoczysz Version 2 Unveiling - US MotoGP Laguna Seca

I just received a note from the guys at Motoczysz about their weekend at this year’s MotoGP at Laguna Seca (can I really say that w/o including Red Bull somewhere?).  It sounds like they had a blast and survived the weekend.  The below picture is a first look at the Motoczysz C1 Version 2 that has been talked about since the C1’s parade laps last year.  Take a look at this work of art:

This is the first photo I have seen of the real deal.  Even the Cycle World article this month had the computer generated versions.  Of course, fans all over were able to photograph and drool over it if they went to the races - Motoczysz had a tent on Manufacturers Row this year.

This is the bike for which they are selling a limited version of fifty.

A coulple things that are noteworthy:

  • Fully enclosed engine compartment - a true full-fairing.
  • Rounded bodywork lines versus the sharper lined trend among the current MotoGP field.
  • Yessir, the nose of the front fairing is in the right (lower) place!
  • No detail left unfinished.

I hope I get a chance to see this version in person.  The proof of concept version that I got to molest, was WAY cool.  I can’t imagine how sweet this one is…

It was extremely impressive. At the Concours D’Elegance they did the actual unveilling, and had a cutaway/sectional bike to show a lot of the inner workings.

At $100k, it’s not cheap, but they’ve already got some privateer buyers, and the factory says if the fill the first 50, the next 100 will be only $65k. THAT I’d like to see. They also mentioned in conversation that they’re taking a $20k loss/bike in the run of 50 just to get them out into the market.

I can’t wait to see how they run on the track…

Motoczyst is an impressive show but more closely resembles a fraud than a legit program. Buyer be ware.
