MotoGP Schedule for 2007

It’s never too early to start planning your future spectation. While this years MotoGP championship isn’t over yet, next year’s is already planned. Considering what an exciting series we’ve witnessed this year, imagine 2007 with all new machinery (for those living under rocks, the displacement limit will go from 990cc to 800cc in a vain attempt to slow them down). Next season promises all the drama of this year and maybe more. With several saddle changes (Stoner to Ducati), a few additions (Ilmor) and a few retirements (Gibernau?, Checa?). Most of the usual suspects return with the same teams. If Rossi wins the championship this year, it will be his 8th title (1-125, 1-250, 1-500 and 5-990). He will have won all of 5 of the 990cc titles!
Can Rossi take his 9th (if he gets his 8th this year)? Will Hayden be able to run up front next year? Will Capirossi finally put Ducati on top of the GP heap? Will Melandri and Pedrosa find consistency? Will Kawasaki and Suzuki make inroads on the big 3? Will KR get competitive engines from Honda next year? Will the ’stones (Bridgestone) still give Michelin a run for their money?
It’ll only be about 4 months between the last race this year and the first one next season. Also, there are 18 (yes, that’s 18) races next season. The most ever! That may even be more than AMA Superbike, even though they run 2 races at most weekends.
Get that cable or satellite, buy that new 52″ plasma and make sure you’ve got TiVo!
So start planning the rest of your life around these dates:

Wow, it’s a long stretch until March.
What effect will the changes in displacement have on the racing? Will any teams gain an advantage because they’ve got a superior 800cc powerplant ready to go?
How many folks are going to bite the bullet and head out to Laguna Seca in 2007?
