World Superbike back in the USA next year ….. in UTAH?!?!

According to SuperbikePlanet.com, WSB is headed to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT for the 2008 season! As a resident of the Beehive State, I couldn’t be more excited!

A Barber round is also rumored. If we could go from zero to two rounds, how cool would that be! Especially on the heels of MotoGP’s second round at Indy this coming year. Looks like interest in roadracing is picking up in the States.

Wow, my head’s spinin’

Went to Church Today

Its been probably a year since I last went to church.  For me, that would be riding my dirt bike in the desert.  Believe me, its been way to long, and today wasn’t without its challenges.

We finally got some good rain during this year’s monsoon season.  That means minimal dust and peak traction in dirt bike lingo.  Prior to the monsoons, we haven’t had noteable rain for over six months! 8O  And while I like riding in the dirt, eating powder is not my idea of fun.

Anyway, as I was prepping my bike last night (ahem - knocking the dust off of it), I noticed a fuel leak at the petcock.  I took it apart, and the o-ring was FUBAR

2007 MotoGP Laguna Seca - Yawn

I consider myself a huge fan of MotoGP and think its the greatest racing on TV and in general.  There are a couple things I need to be entertained though.  A - good racing & B - my guy(s) to be involved in the action.  Unfortunately, for me, this race gave me neither after turn #1.

There is a big “?” about defending the Laguna Seca three-peat.  Don’t get me wrong, Stoner had a perfect, and mistake free race.  But the reality is that the question about Hayden’s performance on his home turf will go unnswered until next year.  Could he have beaten Dtoner today?  It appears that a Hayden three-peat would have been difficult.

Rivalries and the home crowd, however, bring out

Laguna Seca MotoGP TV Coverage - It’s on FOX

Contrary to what I previously posted (from I forgot where)

The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix will be broadcast live this Sunday on Speed TV at 5 pm ET / 2 pm PT, and will air again on ABC on Sunday, July 30 at 1 pm ET / 3 pm PT.

The MotoGP will be aired LIVE (at least here in Arizona) on Fox at 2PM EST / 5PM PST.

I have no idea what happened to the schedule, but I discovered this as I was setting the DVR to record the race.

Poll - Can Nicky Hayden 3-Peat Laguna Seca???

That is the question in the new poll.  It seems that he has found his mojo as of the last couple of races…that and a frame too.  Granted, the German GP had some gift in terms of casualties in front of him, but he was pretty fast nonetheless towards the second half of the race.

Personally, I think he will win it.  He, Hopper, and Edwards have home court advantage.  That has proven itself reliable since the return to Laguna.  I think that the Euro riders are scared shitless of the track layout in terms of safety and aren’t as good over the bumps as the home turf guys.  Last year, Rossi reiterated such sentiments.  I also remember an article in

Happy Ride to Work Day

I and one other rider rode to work today. I guess the rain kept others off the road. Although it hardly qualifies as rain for this area.

Did you ride today? Any special activities planned to mark the occasion?

MotoGP Indianapolis IS ON!!!!

No kidding - it’s official.  September 12-14, 2008 MotoGP and all its supporting GP classes (125cc & 250cc) will be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Tickets are on sale already and WOW are they affordable compared to Laguna Seca at less than half the cost of the Turn #4 Flag Room.  All the info you need is right HERE.  Example - Stand A Penthouse 3-day pass is $150.

Here is some track info from the Indy folks themselves:

Track Safety – San Jose BMW Pulls out of Iowa Moto-ST Round

I have been getting into the Moto-ST series. The idea of more reasonable motorcycles doing semi-endurance racing is really cool. The Moto-ST series is run by Roger Edmondson, who we all know had a little run in with AMA Racing. Roger is now putting on a racing with the support of the Frances’ family of NASCAR.

This weekend the Moto-ST round will be run at the Iowa Speedway. An Oval track with an inside road course The Moto-ST course uses Turn’s #1 and #2 to and from the infield road course The Oval track is 60 feet wide, and the Moto-ST riders are dragging a knee going around turn’s #1 and 2.

Blessed Art Thou DVR

Nothing has improved upon my motocycle racing (of all sorts) viewership than my trusty DVR.  I would call it TiVo, but its not…and for some reason the company wants to loose the generic DVR identity with its brand.

Note:  Fire the TiVo guy that made that decision.

Anyway, I am home for an eighteen hour stint readying me and my family for the second leg of my 10-day vacation.  Nothing beats the ability to look ahead at the MotoGP schedule, realize that I’m not going to be around for the Laguna Seca MotoGP rac3e, and simply not care.  I’ll be home on Sunday evening and watch it skipping commercials!

NOTE #2:  I have a backup plan if there is some act of God
