Sold the SV650 Track Bike

In an interesting chain of events, I have unintentionally sold my recently acquired SV650 track bike.  Well, its not gone out of the garage yet, but its sold nonetheless.  I ended up buying the bike off of a friend of a friend who was moving to the Phoenix area and wanted to generate some cash.  What’s cool is that the guy I bought the SV from also has a Triumph 675 track bike, became my track day partner…yes the same guy I punked out the track day on Sept 23rd.

Anyway, my buddy ended up successfully taking the class to get his roadrace license.  As the series’ goes, the Lightweight bikes offer the most versatility and the best competition.  The SV fits this

Biker’s penis hit by lightning

AN Croatian motorbike rider was knocked unconscious when lightning struck his penis during a roadside toilet break.

Metro.co.uk reported Ante Djindjic, 29, escaped relatively unscathed from the incident, suffering only light burns to his chest and arms.

He said: “I don’t remember what happened. One minute I was taking a leak and the next thing I knew I was in hospital.

“Doctors said the lightning went through my body and because I was wearing rubber boots it earthed itself through my penis.”

“Thankfully, the doctors said that there would be no lasting effects, and my penis will function normally eventually.”

That’s just

Salvaged A Ride After All…

Due to my cool-guy family friendly decision to skip out on a track day, I had built up some good will capital. Yeah, I already spent that. My buddy called me Saturday night to see if I wanted to go out on the dirt bikes Sunday morning. I checked with my wife and she was already planning to go to the gym and take the kids with her. Life is good.

The plan was to get there at 9am and be back to the truck around noon. We rode up to a local restaurant in a town called Crown King. It’s a popular pilgrimage for us city dwellers to start at Lake Pleasant and climb up to (guess) around 5-6k feet.

Punked Out of a Track Day

I was scheduled to attend an open track day this past Sunday, and as the article title suggests, within a few days prior, I punked out. Its too bad, because I have been looking forward to getting back on two wheels since the Arizona down time (for me, at least) started in May. Oh yeah, and we got a ‘cold front’ the day before which had the local temp at the track a beautiful 86F.

My track buddy Levon took it like a champ, even though I abandoned him. The good news is that he had another mutual buddy of ours (the guy that actually introduced us) attend as a spectator / umbrella girl. I wonder how Stephen looks in a

George Clooney and Girlfriend Suffer Broken Bones in Motorcycle Accident

WEEHAWKEN, N.J. (AP) - George Clooney and a companion were injured on Friday when their motorcycle collided with a car on a narrow road across the Hudson River from New York City.
Clooney suffered a broken rib and scrapes while his passenger, Sarah Larson, broke her foot in the 3:30 p.m. collision. The two were treated at Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen and released, Clooney’s spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, said.

“He’s doing fine,” Rosenfield said. “He has a broken rib, it’s very painful and it’ll take a long time to heal.”

Clooney and Larson were traveling

Where You Live Matters

While its rare, every now and then I forget to close the garage when I get home from work.  I did that yesterday and it was open all night.  My garage has two single doors versus the double-wide.  On my side, the very first thing a spectator would see, aside from my vehicle, is the dual undertail exhaust of my Futura (ugh - with the key in it).

I have had my fair share of things stolen out of my garages and parked cars over the years when I lived in Michigan.  I think a lot of it has to do with the teenager content of the neighborhood as much as the location.  Fortunately I live in a good area and, for

Motorcycling Impression from the Far East

A riding buddy of mine (WallyCycle) moved to Singapore about a year ago.  Southeast Asia is a world away from Utah. Recently, I received a correspondence in which de desribed some of his impression of motorcycling in that part of the world. What follows is excerpts from that email.

********************************************************************** ********************** Since getting my bike here, have been venturing into Malaysia for day trips, not just to the track. Found a map supplier, so now have detailed maps of all states. Also trying out my new riding gear. It rains here a lot. Generally just passing showers. And it’s not cold when it rains. My normal riding suit is a Dainese textile, but it is well suited to this area as it has many mesh ports both

Why I will not Join the AMA…..

Over the years, many people have asked why I am not a member of the AMA. The single answer I can give is, I don’t agree with the AMA’s policy on helmets

The AMA believes there is a clear distinction between the use of helmets and mandatory helmet use laws. Some view the helmet solely as a mechanical safety device, similar to seat belts. Many motorcyclists view the helmet as an accessory of personal apparel — its use or non-use is connected with a chosen lifestyle and their right as adults to make their own decisions.

My republican friends remind me how society needs reasonable laws. Speed limits are required as personal freedom ends when it puts others a risk, People should

Harley Davidson Stock Takes Another Hit

Yeah, its from last week but…
Harley-Davidson Stock Takes Another Hit

“They may be macho but they’re not immune,” reports Forbes in an AP-sourced story. “Harley-Davidson riders, like other consumers, are curbing their spending amid the credit crisis and economic uncertainty.”

The Financial Times and Dow Jones are also reporting a chink in Harley-Davidson’s armor, as HOG stocks dipped 9.2% today on the heels of an announcement that less motorcycles than expected will be shipped during the third quarter of this year. Third quarter production numbers– between 86,000 to 88,000 bikes– are below an earlier estimate of 91,000 to 95,000, which will put this year’s estimated total production at 5.5% lower than 2006’s numbers.

Financial analysts can toss around as many numbers as

How cool is that? Greg White racing Ben spies superstock bike.

around the net today, I found a report on roadracingworld about Greg White getting a shot at racing the Yoshimura Suzuki superstock bike at the final round of the AMA series at Laguna.

For those who don’t know Greg White, he was the once shaved head (Just like AB) host of Two Wheeled Tuesday. After almost three years the programs plug was pulled for the much more topical “Superbikes” show. Since then Greg has continued to act as a field reporter down on the gird at AMA races when broadcast on speed TV. Another little known fact is Greg was very eager to become a professional road racer. It has been commented on by Star School founder
