Sold the SV650 Track Bike

In an interesting chain of events, I have unintentionally sold my recently acquired SV650 track bike.  Well, its not gone out of the garage yet, but its sold nonetheless.  I ended up buying the bike off of a friend of a friend who was moving to the Phoenix area and wanted to generate some cash.  What’s cool is that the guy I bought the SV from also has a Triumph 675 track bike, became my track day partner…yes the same guy I punked out the track day on Sept 23rd.

Anyway, my buddy ended up successfully taking the class to get his roadrace license.  As the series’ goes, the Lightweight bikes offer the most versatility and the best competition.  The SV fits this class and the Firebird tracks perfectly.  In addition, you can always race with larger displacement classes, but can’t go the other way.

Regardless, I have been kicking around getting a 600cc inline-4 machine of any brand in the $3k-$4k range.  And since my buddy knew this, he asked if I would sell him back ‘his’ SV.  I’m pretty easy going, and he gave me a smoking deal to begin with.  Even if I wasn’t really considering another bike, I would probably still sold it back to him anyway.

This will probably actually take place in a month or two and I’ll hit another track day by then.  The way I look at it is I’ll have had a free track day loaner bike for a little while.  The SV is a cool bike no doubt.  Given that, I don’t know if I would have replaced it or not…but now it looks like I’ll need to.  :)
