Dear I-5 Stunters

You have made my life so much easier. No longer do I have to try to convince people that motorcyclists do not have death wishes and are, in fact, a safe and responsible bunch. You have finally revealed the truth for all to see: motorcyclists really are the irresponsible, reckless, speed-demons that the general public has always thought.

I am glad that a group of motorcyclists has finally stood up and let everyone know that the roads and highways are our personal playgrounds and that we don’t give a whit about the safety or convenience of others on the road.

Now that the truth has been revealed, I am sure the non-riding, voting public will simply quake with fear and tell their legislators to give us whatever we ask for. For example, I am sure that it will be no problem to get higher penalties for drivers who kill bikers and make sure that insurance coverage is available for injured riders.

Yep, after your masterful display, it should be no problem at all to convince drivers to treat us with courtesy respect.

So thanks I-5 stunters.

C’mon. Its just art and artists…just ask them. I too do not like the whole stunta thing, but am a little conflicted as one who has blazed through the mountain twisties. I can say though that I have been rather civil when ‘in town’.

I’m not going to complain so much about a guy popping a wheelie every now and then, but to block traffic (rolling) to keep the lanes clear in front of them was pretty bad. Not a good marketing tool for us…

The only thing I can say is that I ride with careful respect of other people. No wheelies, no squid passes on the twisties, and keep just over the limit on the straights, even waving the faster cagers to pass if they insist on driving 70+ on the mtn./rural roads. I do ride harder on the freeways, split traffic at somewhat hotter speeds if safe, and truthfully, most cagers in the SF bay area are very good, tending to look out for motos when in the area.

I don’t like fellow motos running too hot in rural areas, as this upsets the locals. I don’t like fellow riders lofting the front on the freeways as this upsets the cagers, and could cause an accident.

I write the above because I consider myself normal, riding a late model FZ1, putting on about 20k miles per year. This is about my 20th moto.

take care all, and ride safe and respectfully.

It’s interesting how everyone is OK with their own way of breaking the law but critical of the alternatives.

We can go on and on about who’s crime is the most egregious, but in the end I’ll quote Christ “let he amoungst you who is without sin, cast the first stone”.

And I’m not even a Christian,

Rhino
