Divine Intervention?

A little holiday blessing has been granted to us off-roaders here in Phoenix.  For the first time in twenty years, we had rain on Thanksgiving day.  While I’m not a religious guy, I did everything I could think of to make it rain:

  • Prayer
  • Harass the local Indian at work to do her ‘dance’
  • Wash my car

Don’t know what happened, but it worked.

Should be a great, dust-free, high traction weekend.

You Know You’re A Motorcycle Addict When … (010)

you plan to spend all of your Thanksgiving holiday riding!.

I don’t need no stinking turkey ….. give me single track trails and twisting ribbons of asphalt!

RRSW - Round #9

(Sorry, no more “Beast Reports”, to over the top, not how I see myself at the track.)

Round #9 was a Big weekend for me with two bikes and 5 races on Sunday. .. As allways I want to thank my sponsors, kurveygirl.com (Got Dzus and Vesrah Brake Pads) and M4 Exhaust (Best SV650 Exhaust on the market).

This months race was held at Firebird Raceway’s Main track.  On saturday I went out on the SV and then my new GSXR1000. The tower turn was slippery in the morning but improved during the day. I noticed that I shift the SV allot going from 3rd to 6th all around the track and I putted around the track on the GSXR

Arizona Budget Defecit Solution Part 1 - Hammer the OHV User

Damn.  It was too good to be true.  Up until and through this year, my total fee to ride on the local desert trails was a whopping $20 for a State Trust permit.  This allowed me to legally ride on land which the State leased to private parties such as ranchers.  As of late, these areas have fallen victim to the EPA’s air quality control (specifically dust) and are being shut down for ALL OHV use.

Twenty bucks per year to ride everything legally.

A friend I work and ride with forwarded me a link to the following information - the new Arizona OHV regulations:

Review: 2008 BMW K1200LT

It’s virtually impossible for me to go anyplace with good roads and not spend some time riding a motorcycle. So when I planned on spending over a week in Virginia, I started investigating my two-wheeled options. Most of my freeloader choices didn’t work out for various reasons, so I investigated paying for the privilege. Turns out, a company called EagleRider which rents motorcycles nationally has an office in Chantilly, VA, about 20 miles from where I’d be staying.

Entertaining Admonition from the Blue Ridge Parkway

While on a recent trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway, I stopped in at the Lin Cove Viaduct Vistor Center gift shop and found this very entertaining warning sign:

A bit of good advice

I purchased it as a valuable reminder and as fodder for my moto-themed garage.

I fear that many of our brethern have found themselves in this situation with the subsequent unpleasant consequences. I myself have periodocally found myself making mid-corner correction as a result of stunning scenery.

If you are riding, watch the road. If you want to sightsee, pull over!

MSF Military SportBike Rider Course

Interesting.  It appears as if the MSF guys have developed a specific course for military personnel to improve their skills with sportbikes.  The claim in this article by CNN (NOTE:  CNN is the Communist News Network so…) is that more Marines have died from motorcycle accidents than in Iraq in the past twelve months.  Training is always good, but I tend to think that this problem is in the gray matter.  Simply put…keepin it cool.

I can also see that guys in the military on high powered sport bikes would want to test the limits of the machinery no matter what the rider’s experience is though.  Heh - after all they get to mess with some pretty cool non-civilian hardware.
