Spring Cleaning Motorcycle Sale: Suzuki SV650 and Moto Guzzi Breva 1100

The old garage seems a bit crowded these days, so I’ve decided to clear some space by selling a couple of my scoots. Based on current economic conditions, my timing may be a little off, but those are the breaks. Either of these machines would be a great addition to any garage.
So what am I parting with?
First, my venerable SV650. This silver 2003 model was the first year for fuel injection on this model and what a difference it makes. One button starting first time, every time, in any conditions. This bike has never given me any mechanical concern whatsoever. I bought it used on eBay about 3 years ago, so I’m the second owner and after it’s 5 year lifespan, it’s got just a tad over 18,000 miles on it.

As good an all-arounder as they come!
I can’t say enough about the capabilities of this machine. It’s truly much more than the sum of its’ parts. Whether commuting, touring, or sport riding; the feeling is always one of perfect composure. All the components work in perfect harmony with each other, no one system overwhelming another. And even though it’s only a 650, there is no shortage of power or excitement unless you lean toward Hayabusa type excess. Also, the lightweight makes it feel like you are in control and not the other way around. As value goes, it just can’t be beat.
The “extras” that come with the SV are a full M4 exhaust system (great, but reasonable, sound), OEM rear hugger, OEM lower faring, GIVI windscreen, Frame Protectors and heated hand grips (comfort and safety when you really need it). My asking price is $3500.
The reason I’m parting with it, is that it’s physically too small for me. At 6’1” and well over 200 lbs, this bike ergonomics are just a tad cramped. The proverbial monkey doing something untoward with a pigskin.
My second offering represents my foray into Italian classic, a Moto Guzzi. The Breva 1100 is my first Monde Del Lario representative. I’ve always had a soft spot for Guzzi (love the across the frame V-twin look) but after test riding several in the ‘90s, I wasn’t impressed. But then in 2006, a local dealer in VA let me take a test ride on a Breva and I was finally satisfied with the quality vs. price ratio.

Classic Italian style but with modern perfromance!
I finally found a “Goose” I thought I could live with.

Unfortunately, what I realized over time is that I’m not really a traditional rider. While the machine performs its’ mission quite admirably; it just feels too “different” form what I grown accustomed too. Kind of a cross between Harley and BMW, but with Italian spices.
It’s pretty much bone-stock, except for EBC brakes rotors, heated grips and a K&N air filter. The tires are virtually new (<300 miles) and it’s just had a valve adjustment and oil change. And it also comes with some very stylin’ OEM saddlebags. At only 2 years old, the ’06 Breva has just over 5000 miles on the Odo. My asking price is $8700.
Both bikes have free and clear Utah titles (no salvage) and are located in the greater Salt Lake City area.
So, even though I really enjoyed the experiences both of these bikes have brought me, I’ve decided it’s time to say goodbye. If you’d like to say hello to either of these, or know someone who might, drop me a line at: rhino59@gmail.com

Hmmm…the SV is tempting having ridden it, but its simply the wrong time for me.
