Time to Lube the Wall…….again!!!!!!!

It always slips my mind, thank god for the upcoming MotoGP in China and the Race event sponsor Sinopec Great Wall Lubricants. Now the tough choice is always which lubricant to select to lube the wall and who makes the best wall lubricants? Since China does have the biggest, longest and Greatest Wall, it would only make sense they would be the biggest manufacturer of Wall Lubricants.

A little history about wall lubricants.
The Great Wall actually began in the States Warring Period, from the 5th century BCE to 221 BCE, when various regional warlords built walls around their territories to protect their lands. It wasn’t until Qui Shi Quang unified China in 221 BCE and ordered all the interior walls

HOUSE INTRODUCES HEALTH INSURANCE BILL FOR MOTORCYCLISTS!

I’m not going to tell you what to do but at least you need to know you can have your voice heard. Click anywhere on the article and it will take you to the AMA site where you can send email to your representatives.

U.S. Representative Michael Burgess (R-TX-26) and U.S. Representative Bart Stupak (D-MI-1) recently introduced H.R. 1076, “The HIPAA Recreational Injury Technical Correction Act.” Identical legislation obtained 177 bipartisan cosponsors and passed the full Senate in the 108th Congress.

H.R. 1076 aims at ending health care discrimination for individuals participating in legal transportation and recreational activities-activities like motorcycling, snowmobiling, skiing, horseback riding, and all-terrain vehicle riding.

This legislation addresses a loophole caused by a Department of Health and Human Services’

Aprilia V4-999cc

I will let an already well written article from www.raptorsandrockets.com tell the story as I need to find a towel as I’m drooling too much.
2008 World Superbike dreams 1-Aprilia V4 999 Prototype 0
The Aprilia V4 project utilizes a brand new V4 999cc engine destined both for world superbike and the road. The V4 will be Aprilia’s first ever four cylinder motorcycle. Already now at the very beginning of the project Aprilia stipulates a max power of more than 210hp from the superbike version. Aprilia surprised everyone when it last threw itself into World Superbike racing with the RSV Mille by being competitive and winning races in the first year. The new V4 project is a different ballgame and the engine

MotoGP 800’s slower than the 990’s?

As Rhino said this past weekend was the beginning of the 2007 motorcycle road racing season around the world. While others were interested in WSBK or the upcoming Daytona 200 (ho hum), my attention was focused on the first Official MotoGP test in Jerez, Spain.

2007 is the inaugural season for the 800cc MotoGP bikes. Although it has been known for several years that the MotoGP class would be limited to 800cc from 990cc, I could not find any reasoning behind FIM’s change of displacement. First thought would be to slow the bikes down since Loris Capirossi set the fastest top speed on a MotoGP bike of just over 214 mph / 344.390 kph on his Ducati in 2004.

So

Jason Perez…Does he deserve to be in MotoGP?

During a comment on a post by Angrybob about the opening WSB race I needed to do a little research on the MotoGP website and noticed that Jason Perez (An American rider) will be riding for WCM racing this year along with Jeremy McWilliams. So what are Jason’s credentials for moving from the AMA motorcycle racing series to the elite of motorcycle racing venues?

Jason Perez earned the 2005 AMA Superbike Rookie of the Year Award. The 21-year-old second generation AMA road racer from Brentwood, Calif., finished ranked 27th in the AMA Superbike Championship presented by Parts Unlimited in spite of only participating in the final six rounds of the 17-race series and battling back from a serious elbow injury.

“Spinners”….Deceptive & Distracting

I think all of us have seen the new fad in car wheels: “spinners” (I know they have been around for a few years). I even think they are making them for bikes. Most of my experiences with spinners have been coming to or leaving a stop light or sign.

I’m sure most observant motorcyclists watch the wheels/tires of the cars around them to determine what the car might do next. Recently I encountered a car with spinners at speed. The car was slowing down but the spinners gave no hint of that activity, but I knew the car was slowing down because my speed had not changed but I was passing him. I glanced at the wheels as I

The Chase

Last weekend we had 2 very experienced and knowledgeable riders fatally injured. No one knows exactly what happened but they were riding very fast and close. The first rider may have over corrected for a rear wheel slide which sent him into a guard rail at a high mph the other rider probably had target fixation. The second rider died instantly and the first rider a few minutes later. Both were very skilled riders, riding at 9/10th to 10/10th. This tragic incident inspired me to write and post the following to our forum.

Please understand things like this just come out. Although the inspiriation for this did come from the recent tragedy, mostly it is the interaction that goes on inside

Engine Air Filters

Lots of interest info about engine air filters. Too much to post here and the pics are embedded in the report.

Conclusions
First of all, many thanks to Arlen Spicer and Ken at Testand for organizing and facilitating the test. Arlen is a professional Firefighter who also operates a small tree service on the side. The tree service is the reason he owns a diesel truck. This study was the result of nearly a year of work by Arlen to get accurate independent data on air filters for the GM Duramax Diesel. Arlen originally set out to build his own Filter Test Stand so that he could perform accurate, repeatable and independent measurements on the various filters available for the Duramax.

Just Think “PUSH”

Joanna and I took the MSF Advanced Rider course a few weekends ago. Great review for anyone, lets you know where your abilities are lacking even if this is mostly slow speed.

I am very fimiliar with countersteering and even using your body to help with cornering. I have always known I have not used the cornering abilities of my bike. One of the concepts that was stressed in the course was to consciously think “PUSH” on the handlebar when cornering. So in the next weeks when cornering I did just that consciously think “PUSH” and damn if it doesn’t work (for me). Achieving a steeper lean angle is easier and more confident.

So next time you find yourself in the

Can they put one in a motorcycle?
