I just sent this letter to the AMA.

AMA,

A motorcyclist was killed recently here in Vestal, NY. The scene of the crime was the classic “left turn into rider” scenario. The driver is being charged with “failure to yield”. That’s it!

Below is the article from the local paper.

Sincerely,
“First name” “Last name”
“AMA Member Number”

Is your state “Buyer Friendly”?

Fellow riders,

As enthusiasts, we are constantly checking out bikes, wondering if we should add to our stable. Or maybe just trade. But unless you’re trading down, a new addition costs money.

The other day I was looking into how much it would cost me to buy a 2005 Suzuki DR650SE. The MSRP is $4999. But as we all know, one doesn’t just walk into the dealership and hand over the MSRP amount in cash. There’s also the requisite (1) tax, (2) title, and (3) tags. This can be a large chunk of change, depending upon which state one lives in. Which got me to wondering: Which states are “buyer friendly”?

So let’s do a survey. I’ll start with my state (New

Those crazy stunters . . .

A week ago, the Washington Post printed this story about the Adrenalin Crew. It’s well written and objective. (In my opinion.) Enjoy.

The quarter-mile access road isn’t quite dry when the Adrenalin Crew revs the engines.

The crowd, nearly 200 who waited out the rain, hanging around the front of Criswell Power Sports in Germantown, quickly lines both sides of the pavement.

They didn’t come to see the bikes. They came to see the biker boys. A guy rides 100 feet with the back end of the cycle in the air, doing an “endo”

MotoGP – Donington Park

I haven’t been thinking of motorcycles much lately. The wife and I just had our first child. Kari was born on July 21st and measures in at 8 lbs and 21 inches. Both mother and daughter are happy and healthy.

But now my initial shock and amazement has subsided, so my thoughts have again drifted back to the fun we all have with two wheels. In particular, I have some thoughts regarding the very wet MotoGP race that took place at Donington Park.

1. Of the 21 riders that started the race, only 11 riders finished and received points. Well, the points system in MotoGP awards points to the top 15 finishers. (25, 20, 16, 13, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5,

“It’s a hassle.”

That’s the response I got when I asked my coworker why he doesn’t ride to work more often. It takes too much time for him to get ready. If he takes the car he can just jump in and go. But with the bike he has to (1) put on all the extra gear, including helmet, boots, gloves, and jacket, (2) then there are the work-related items that he has to put in his backpack, such as his planner, his notes, etc., and then (3) he has to let his carbureted bike idle for a minute or two before taking off. It might take an extra five to ten minutes before he can get on the road. And then there’s
